UnearthToday popular metal portal MetalSucks hosts the worldwide premiere of UNEARTH‘s “Ruination Of The Lost,” the explosive second track off the band’s upcoming Darkness In The Light full-length. "Darkness in the light"
Charging out of the late ’90s Massachusetts underground in a storm of thunderous riffs and focused aggression, in 2011 UNEARTH proudly stand at the forefront of modern metal. With fifth full-length, Darkness In The Light, the quintet have delivered their most honest, powerful, and compelling statement to date, driving a fist into the collective gut of every image-obsessed wannabe metal band currently cluttering up the landscape, and setting a new standard when it comes to marrying precision brute force and exhilarating melody. Slated for North American release via Metal Blade Records July 5, the 11-track long player was recorded at Zing Studios in Westfield, Massachusetts with producer (and Killswitch Engage guitarist) Adam Dutkiewicz and mixed at Audiohammer Studios in Sanford, Florida by Mark Lewis (The Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium, et al). Sitting in on drums during the recording was Justin Foley of Killswitch Engage/Blood Has Been Shed. “The March”
Look at the careers of all great metal bands, and there is a certain album that pushed the respective group to the next level. The March, the forthcoming fourth full-length from UNEARTH is bound to be that album for the band, as it contains all the expected elements from earlier UNEARTH classics, while also managing to drive their sound forward. Hailing from just north of Boston, UNEARTH originally formed in 1998 with a three-man core - singer Trevor Phipps, guitarists Buz McGrath and Ken Susi – and were subsequently joined by bassist John “Slo” Maggard. Derek Kerswill’s union with the band marks UNEARTH’s latest addition, resulting in what many consider to be the band’s most potent line-up of all. Over the years, UNEARTH has issued a steady stream of modern metal classics, including such full-lengths as 2001’s The Stings of Conscience, before signing with Metal Blade, and issuing 2004’s The Oncoming Storm. All the while, UNEARTH continuously crisscrossed the globe, becoming one of the hardest – and most consistent – touring bands in all of hard rock. Over the years the quintet has played in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, South America, Mexico, Japan, Europe including the Netherlands and their first ever headlining trip to Russia, and has appeared not once, but two times each on such renowned metal fests as Ozzfest and Download. They have also appeared on International festivals such as Rock Am Park, Rock Am Ring, Loud Park, Wacken and others. In the process, UNEARTH has toured alongside some of rock’s top names, including Slayer, Slipknot, Killswitch Engage, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, and many others.
The album instantly earned unanimous glowing reviews, as Blender.com hailed it as “Easily a front running candidate for Metal Album of the Year,” while Revolver Magazine called it “A stunning accomplishment, one that repeatedly pushes the boundaries of heaviness, yet contains enough sonic and lyrical layers to give the songs depth and staying power.” One of the highest compliments came in Rolling Stone Magazine, from Slipknot frontman, Cory Taylor. “It’s like Anthrax and Megadeth rolled into one. It’s everything you want in a great metal song.”
Phipps claims "This is our most crushing record to date. We pulled back some of the speed on this album just a bit so we could make the tunes more pummeling." He added, "The record has everything we have brought to the table in the past, the thrash, stomp, groove, melody and classic metal elements, but the song writing continues to improve. We are all proud as fuck of this album." The March available everywhere October 14th, 2008 DISCOGRAPHY http://www.unearth.tv/ "The talent within the band is obvious...brutish melodies...guitar runs that are as creative as they are powerful...a major force" – BLENDER “Thrash titans” – MTV NEWS "big, chunky riffs, raspy throat-roar vocals, baterram drums...an innate sense for the theatrical...like better-produced 80s skateboard-thrash...pretty great" - VILLAGE VOICE |

Commented vocalist Trevor Phipps: “‘Ruination Of The Lost’ is a pummeling front end album song that showcases our mix of both American and European metallic influences with an apocalyptic lyrical theme. Buz [McGrath] and Ken [Susi] both rip some serious guitar solos in the tune and their guitar harmonies are hauntingly catchy. This one is a high energy shredder while lyrically it speaks about the end of the human race in the not so distant future if we continue to destroy our planet with the current level of disregard year after year. It’s hard for me to understand why people still let money and politics interfere with any real positive change even with the warning signs Mother Nature has given us. The title of the song refers to the self-destructive nature of the human race and how we are collectively so lost in our lust for money and power that we are destroying the world that gave us life in the first place.”
If you’re searching for brutal and aggressive metal, you’ve met your match with UNEARTH. Combining elements of hardcore, thrash, and extreme metal – while also never overlooking the importance of thought-provoking lyrical ideas and concepts – UNEARTH has steadily become one of the leading lights in heavy metal.
